A note of thanks to Pierre Auge and Danielle Robataille for providing an excellent week end of learning.
Congrats to Tracey who hit a new Pr in the Clean and Jerk @ 110 lbs.
Tracey and I are now officially NCCP recognized level 1 weightlifting coaches. Pretty cool weekend which ended in a mock lifting tournament. Much time spent learning how to to do the lifts but more importantly we spent a lot of time learning to teach and recognize faults in the lifts.
Not that anyone needs to do this but we will both be purchasing lifting shoes. They make a HUGE difference! If anyone is interested let me know.
Lastly if anyone has a sheet or two of plywood kicking around I will be happy to take it as we will be adding a lifting platform in the near future.
Sounds like it was a good time! With regards to the shoes - I've already got my Chuck Taylors ;) Looking forward to the WOD tonight. Do we maintain the same weight throughout the whole WOD? Or is it more of a work up to max weight sort of thing?
Forgot to post this. We would like to extand a warm welcome to the Grand River Yoshinkan Aikido group under Lee Darke who will be sharing our space. They will be offering classes on Monday and Wednesday nights after our CrossFit session. Discounts will be available to members of CrossFit Guelph. For those of you not familiar with Yoshinkan Aikido...It is the mandatory training program for the Tokyo riot police as well as our own RCMP.
Worked the snatch. Tracey has the numbers for jamie and Silas, alas I do not have Austin and Zachs numbers. Both Zach and Austin looked pretty good by the end, and from what I heard Silas and jamie did well also.

Ah yes the old Chucks circa 1970! It will be a work up to a max. You can power snatch, split snatch, squat snatch. Then one overhead.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say we will spend some time on technique before we do the WOD.
awesome looking forward for you working over my snatch ...
